Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us before they travel — answered plainly, including the parts other companies would rather not put in writing.

Before you decide

Is medical treatment in Türkiye safe?

Türkiye has genuinely world-class accredited hospitals and highly experienced surgeons — and it also has cheap, high-volume operators who cut corners. The country is not the variable; the clinic is. Our entire job is making sure you end up on the right side of that line.

We only place patients with licensed clinics we have visited and continue to monitor, and we tell you the real risks of your specific procedure before you commit to anything.

Why is it so much cheaper than at home?

Lower salaries, lower facility and insurance costs, and a favourable exchange rate. It is the same reason a meal or a hotel costs less there. The saving comes from economics, not from a lesser operation — provided you choose a clinic properly, which is where most people get it wrong.

Am I even a suitable candidate?

That is the first thing we find out, and it costs you nothing. Send photos or an X-ray and a partner surgeon assesses your case within 24 hours. If the honest answer is that you should wait, treat something else first, or not travel at all, we will tell you.

Do you push people to book?

No. You get one honest set of options and then it is your decision. If you go quiet, we leave you alone. Plenty of people come back six months later, and that is fine.

Costs & payment

Why don’t you publish prices?

Because published prices in this industry are almost always misleading — a headline number for a case nobody actually has. An honest quote depends on your graft count, your implant count or what your surgeon recommends after seeing you. You will get a real, written cost range for your case within 24 hours.

What is included in the quote?

Your treatment, your hotel, all airport and clinic transfers, your English-speaking assistant, your coordinator and your aftercare follow-up — itemised, so you can see exactly what each part costs. Flights and travel insurance are yours to arrange separately.

Who do I pay, and when?

You pay the clinic directly for your medical treatment, and you always see what the clinic charges. Payment terms are confirmed in your written quote before you commit. Never send money to anyone on the strength of a WhatsApp message alone — from us or from anybody else.

Are there hidden extras?

Not from us. Anything not included is listed as not included. The most common genuine extras are flights, insurance, extra hotel nights if your surgeon wants you to stay longer, and anything unforeseen your surgeon judges medically necessary — we flag all of these before you travel.

Do you offer payment plans?

Some partner clinics do. Ask your coordinator and we will tell you which options exist for your case, and what they actually cost you over the term.

Planning your trip

How long will I need to be there?

Hair transplant: usually 3–4 nights. Dental: around 5–7 nights, and implants need a second visit a few months later. Cosmetic surgery: commonly 7–10 nights. We give you exact dates for your case before you book flights.

Do you book my flights?

No — you will get a better fare and far more flexibility booking those yourself. We tell you exactly which days to arrive and depart, and we will not let you book a return flight before your surgeon has confirmed it is realistic.

Do I need a visa?

It depends on your passport. Many nationalities, including UK, Irish, Australian, New Zealand, US and Canadian citizens, either enter visa-free or use a straightforward e-Visa for tourism-length stays. Always check the current rules for your own passport with the official Turkish authorities before you book, as they change.

Can someone come with me?

Yes, and for major surgery we strongly recommend it. Adding a companion to your hotel and transfers usually costs very little. Tell us at quote stage so it is priced in from the start.

Which city will I be in?

Most of our partner clinics are in Istanbul, which has the greatest concentration of experienced surgeons and the best flight connections. Where a different city genuinely suits your case better, we will say so.

While you’re there

Who meets me at the airport?

A private driver, at arrivals, holding your name. Your itinerary tells you their name and number in advance, and your coordinator is reachable throughout your journey.

Will anyone speak English?

Yes. An English-speaking assistant is with you for the consultation, the procedure day and the check-ups, and your coordinator speaks English throughout your stay.

What kind of hotel?

Comfortable, well located and matched to your recovery needs — not somewhere with four flights of stairs and no lift when you have just had abdominal surgery. You know which hotel before you travel and you can upgrade if you would like to.

What if my surgeon wants me to stay longer?

Then you stay longer. We rearrange your hotel and transfers, and help you move your flight. Your surgeon decides when you are fit to fly, not your ticket.

Will I get to see anything of Türkiye?

Often yes, gently, and depending entirely on your procedure and how you feel. Your coordinator will tell you honestly what is sensible — a walk along the Bosphorus is very different from a day of sightseeing three days after surgery.

Afterwards

What aftercare do I get?

Written instructions specific to your procedure, any medication or supplies you need, scheduled follow-ups at the right intervals, and a direct route back to your surgeon’s team — not a general inbox.

What if I have a complication at home?

Message your coordinator. We get you in front of your surgeon’s team quickly, and we will tell you plainly when something needs to be seen by a doctor locally rather than managed over messages. Please do also register with your own GP or dentist about work done abroad — it matters for your records.

Is there any guarantee?

No honest operator guarantees a medical result, and you should be wary of any who do. What partner clinics do offer are stated policies on revisions and complications, which vary by clinic and procedure. Ask us for the specific policy in writing before you book — we will get it for you.

Will my own doctor know what was done?

Yes, if you take the paperwork we give you. You leave with details of exactly what was performed and with what materials, so any clinician anywhere can pick it up. Keep it safe.

About MediRoute

Are you a clinic?

No. MediRoute is a medical travel facilitator and coordination service. We are not a hospital, a clinic or a healthcare provider, and nothing we say is medical advice. Treatment is planned and performed by the independent licensed clinics you choose.

How are you paid?

You pay Medi Route a coordination fee for organising your treatment journey, itemised in writing, and it does not change depending on which partner clinic you choose. The treatment itself is paid directly to your chosen clinic — we never collect the clinic’s treatment fee on its behalf, and you always get the clinic’s own written quotation first. There is more detail on the About page, and if anything about it is unclear, ask us directly.

What happens to my photos and medical information?

It is shared only with the clinics assessing your case, and only with your consent. We do not publish patient photos without explicit written permission. See our privacy policy.

Can you help with a treatment not listed?

Ask. We focus on hair restoration, dental and cosmetic surgery because those are what we know well enough to judge properly. If your case sits outside that, we would rather refer you elsewhere than pretend.

Still not sure? Ask us directly.

No question is too basic. Most people who message us are trying to work out whether this is even a sensible idea for them — that is exactly the conversation we want to have.

  • A reply within 24 hours — from a real coordinator, not an autoresponder.
  • Clinic options, not one sales pitch. We show you more than one route where it makes sense.
  • An honest cost range for your case, plus what is and isn’t included.
  • No pressure to book. If Türkiye isn’t right for you, we’ll say so.
